Worship Notes
How many of you have a life verse? Life verse being that one special verse of scripture that in some way encapsulates the work of God in your life. There are a few that have been meaningful to me over the years, but the one I most often cite is 2 Samuel 7:18. Leading up to verse 18, God establishes His covenant with David. Through Nathan, God makes a series of promises to David that culminates in verse 16 – “Your throne shall be established forever.”
David was humbled. His response was to go and sit in the presence of the Lord. David responded to God in verse 18. “Who am I, O Lord God, and what is my house, that you have brought me thus far?” I so often feel like David. I don’t deserve mercy and yet God has shown mercy. I don’t deserve grace and yet, through the sacrifice of His Son, Jesus Christ, He has been gracious to rescue me from my sin. God has provided more than I ever deserved, and I want my response to be like David, a response of humility, surprise, and thanksgiving.
Sunday, the choir will sing that message of thanksgiving.
“Looking back, all I can see, is a history of miracles.
I know if You’re here with me, nothing is impossible!
Thank You for Your goodness, thank You for Your kindness,
Thank You for all the things You do, Jesus, thank You!
Thank You for Your blessings, thank You for a million little things,
Thank You for all the ways You’ve come through, Jesus, thank You!
I can’t say it enough, I can’t say it enough, I can’t say it enough.
I can’t thank You enough, I can’t thank You enough, I can’t thank You enough.”
God, I can’t say it enough. Thank You!
Chris
