Worship Notes
The waters of baptism are an opportunity for all of us to remember and rejoice in our salvation. For the one being baptized, it is their public profession of faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. For the church, it is our opportunity to affirm our commitment to the Great Commission – sharing the gospel, making disciples, and baptizing them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. For us as individual members of the Body of Christ, it is an act of worship to be reminded of His great mercy and to be thankful for His grace.
It is because of that remembrance that we open our congregational worship tomorrow with Who You Say I Am.
Who am I that the highest King would welcome me?
I was lost, but He brought me in,
Oh, His love for me,
Oh, His love for me!
Who the Son sets free,
Oh, is free indeed,
I'm a child of God, yes, I am!
When I participate in baptism as an observer, I cannot help but ask myself that very question, “Who am I that the highest King would welcome me, a lost sinner?” His love for me is unfathomable. He has set me free.
So, who am I that the highest King would welcome me? As a follower of Jesus Christ, I am exactly who He says I am. I am a child of God! Hallelujah! Thanks be to God!
Chris
