Worship Notes: Sometimes, when I’m planning worship, I will pick a song that answers the question that another song poses. Tomorrow, we will sing a familiar song, “I Will Not Be Shaken,” followed by a less familiar one, “Same God.” While “I Will Not Be Shaken” authoritatively declares that we will not fear because we stand upon the Rock, our high tower, “Same God” answers the question even more clearly of why we can trust God. We can trust him in our struggles, in our failures, and in our weakness, because he has shown time and time again that he answers his people when we call. When we think we are trapped, he opens up the seas like he did for Moses. When we face enemies far greater than ourselves, he gives courage like he did for David. When we are afraid that the task he has called us to is too great and we are merely small, He gives us a calm assurance like he did for Mary. May the Holy Spirit fill us with his power as we worship.
